Effect of INitial Combination Therapy With GEmigliptin and Metformin on Microbiota Change and Glycemic Control in patientS With Type 2 DIabetes aNd ObEsity (INTESTINE Study)
The INTESTINE Study evaluates the efficacy of gemigliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, in combination with metformin, against glimepiride and metformin in treating obese patients with type 2 diabetes. Given the increasing prevalence of diabetes and obesity, this study addresses a significant market need. If successful, gemigliptin could enhance its competitive positioning against established therapies, particularly in the context of combination therapies that leverage gut microbiota modulation. The findings may also support further development and marketing strategies for gemigliptin, potentially expanding its market share in the diabetes treatment landscape.
